Handpan player · Athens, Greece
Giorgos Christakis is a percussionist, handpan player, composer, and music producer with a strong focus on ethnic fusion and electronic music, both as blended forms and as independent genres. With over 15 years of musical experience and 7 years as a music educator, his rhythmic foundation is deeply rooted in African percussion and drums. At the core of his artistic identity lies the handpan, which he approaches not only as a performer but also as an innovator. In close collaboration with Heka Handpans, Giorgos is actively involved in the development of a chromatic handpan instrument, expanding the melodic and harmonic possibilities of the handpan beyond traditional scale limitations. His work explores the dialogue between organic percussion, handpan resonance, and modern electronic sound design. Through live performance, composition, and production, he creates immersive soundscapes that bridge traditional rhythmic languages with contemporary electronic textures and global influences.
